The Ultracourts team would like to congratulate all the Aussie tennis champions who made the Australian Open 2022 even more exciting to watch.
Firstly, we are thrilled for Ash Barty, who won the women’s singles at this year’s event. Her historic win at the Australian Open 2022 smashed a very long 44-year drought. The much-loved Queenslander became the first Australian to win a singles title at an Australian Open since 1978.

While we’re not shocked that the world number one in singles took out the Australian Open 2022 singles title, it doesn’t make it any less fantastic. The golden girl of tennis herself is still processing the win, and we can only imagine how exhilarating it feels.
She is no stranger to winning big, though. Ash Barty has taken out three Grand Slam singles titles and is the reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion. With a Grand Slam doubles title under her belt, Barty has collected fifteen singles titles and twelve doubles titles, all by the age of 25!
Our hats also go off to American Danielle Collins, who came Runner-Up in the women’s singles final against Barty. Collins, ranked number ten in the world, was a formidable opponent.
But Ash isn’t the only champ that deserves some serious congratulations right now.
Dylan Alcott – Australian of the Year and Homegrown Tennis Champ
Ultracourts also wants to send a huge congratulations to Dylan Alcott for the incredible start he has had to 2022, as Runner Up in the Quad Wheelchair Singles Final, but also after being honoured with the title of Australian of the Year and made and Officer of the Order of Australia. It is a testament to the contribution Alcott has made to wheelchair tennis as well as the influence his dedication and achievements have had on those who look to him for inspiration.

We also congratulate Sam Schroder from the Netherlands for his win against Alcott. Both men are amazing athletes and deserve every success.
There were some great wins by international tennis stars at the Australian Open this year, most notably Spain’s Rafael Nadal, who took out the men’s singles title against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
The Australian Open gave tennis fans many sensational viewing moments this year, and we’re excited to see what the year ahead holds for these tennis superstars.
