Tennis court lights – Tennis Court Accessory Spotlight

Illuminate your backyard playing surface with the addition of tennis court lights.

Forget about playing a match in the heat of the day and take a hit at night by having Ultra Courts install tennis court lights to give you great visibility when it’s dark.

One of the best things about modern tennis court lights is they use energy efficient LED’s that provide bright lighting that covers the whole court. Let’s talk about the different options and how you can use them to turn the spotlight on your game.

Light it up

Tennis court lights allow you to extend your play time beyond daylight hours, allowing you to enjoy the game well into the night. This is particularly beneficial across Victoria, where the days are shorter during the winter months.

With proper illumination, you can maintain a consistent playing schedule, regardless of the time of year or what the weather throws your way. The right setup can completely transform your tennis experience, turning your court into a professional-quality space that’s both practical and looks great.

Tennis court lighting today usually uses LED technology, an option that is energy efficient, bright and lasts longer. LEDs use less power compared to traditional halogen or metal halide lights, making them both a cost-effective and eco-friendly choice.

They also provide instant illumination, no long warm-up times and distribute light evenly across the court, eliminating dark spots and glare.

Selecting the power

In terms of wattage, tennis court lights can range from 200W to 1000W per fixture, depending on the desired brightness level and court use. A private backyard court might only need 200–400W LEDs, while professional or club-level courts could require 800–1000W fittings for consistent, competition-grade lighting.

Tennis court lighting FAQ’s

  1. How many lights will the court need?
Most standard courts use between 6 and 8 lights to ensure even coverage, though this may vary depending on the light type and placement and the required lumens (illumination/brightness) needed.
  2. Is it possible to install my own lights?
While residential are potentially small enough for you to do it yourself, Ultra Courts doesn’t recommend it. Professional installation is the best way to go for safety, compliance and optimal lighting results.
  3. Do tennis court lights need maintenance?
LED light systems require very little maintenance compared to traditional lights, usually needing just periodic cleaning and inspections.
  4. Can the lights be dimmed or controlled remotely?
Many modern LED systems may come with smart controls, allowing users to adjust brightness or set timers via remote or app-based systems.
