Top Aussie Women Tennis Players

Always wanted to have your own tennis court? You can. But before we get into the ‘how’, let’s look at the top Aussie women tennis players.

If you’ve been thinking it would be fun to have your own home court or just want to improve your fitness, now’s the time. Unlike most of the top Aussie women tennis players, you can have a court in your own backyard.

Court is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Her 24 women’s singles major titles and total of 64 major titles (including 19 major women’s doubles and 21 major mixed doubles titles) are the most in tennis history.

Evonne Goolagong Cawley

Cawley was ranked world No. 1 in women’s singles by the Women’s Tennis. She won 86 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including seven singles majors, and 46 doubles titles, including seven doubles majors. At 19, she won the French Open singles and the Australian Open doubles championships. She won the women’s singles tournament at Wimbledon in 1971 and 1980, becoming the first mother to win the title in 66 years.

Ash Barty

Barty was ranked as the world No. 1 in women’s singles by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for 121 weeks and was ranked world No. 5 in doubles. Barty won 15 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including three majors at the 2019 French Open, 2021 Wimbledon Championships, and 2022 Australian Open, as well as the 2019 WTA Finals. She also won 12 doubles titles, including a major at the 2018 US Open.

Samantha Stosur

Stosur beat Serena Williams, winning the singles title at the 2011 US Open, making her the first Australian woman since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980 to win a Grand Slam title. She is a four-time Grand Slam doubles champion, winning the 2005 US Open, the 2006 French Open, 2019 Australian Open and 2021 US Open.

Dellacqua’s best singles results on the WTA Tour have been semifinal appearances at the 2012 Texas Tennis Open and 2014 Birmingham Classic, a quarterfinal finish at the 2014 Indian Wells Open and fourth round appearances at the 2008 Australian Open, the 2014 Australian Open and the 2014 US Open. She has won 22 ITF singles titles. One of her best achievements was a mixed doubles title at the 2011 French Open.
