If you’re a tennis fan, it’s probably no surprise that among the names of the 2024 top Australian famous tennis players is the one and only Alex de Minaur.

With relentless energy on the court, Alex de Minaur, also known as The Demon, has earned himself a gong to be named among the 2024 top Australian famous tennis players.

For Alex de Minaur, who has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the sport’s most promising young talents and is Australia’s highest ranked male player in 2024.

Who is Alex de Minaur?
Here at Ultracourts, we hold all of our tennis players in high regard, even those who like to play for fun! But if you haven’t heard of him before, Alex de Minaur was born here in Australia in 1999 and actually holds dual citizenship with Spain, where he has spent a large portion of his life combined with Australia.
He first started playing tennis at the young age of four when his mum signed him up for lessons and he hasn’t looked back since. De Minaur won the Australian Under 14 Championships at Melbourne Park in December 2013 and the Under 16 Australian Championships the following year. He rose to a career-high world number six after advancing to the singles quarter finals at Wimbledon 2024.

But his biggest feat came earlier this year, when he broke into the world’s top 10 for the first time on January 8, 2024.

• His mother is Spanish, his father is Uruguayan and he has three younger siblings (two sisters and one brother).
• Alex de Minaur’s girlfriend is British tennis player Katie Boulter.
• He can speak English and Spanish.
• De Minaur’s best result is reaching the quarter-finals at the US Open in 2020 and 2024, as well as the quarter-finals of the French Open and Wimbledon in 2024.
• He has also reached the fourth round at the Australian Open for the last three years in a row (2022, 2023, 2024).
• He is the first Australian in 18 years to be ranked in the top 10. Tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt, a two-time grand slam champion and also de Minaur’s mentor, was the last to do so.
